I didn't see where he was charged with killing the fish. Are fish not considered like a pet like a dog or cat?

Not sure. The State issues Fishing Licenses so you can catch and kill fish but I don't think it issues dog or cat license.

Is there not anything more important to report in this City? If they wrote an article everytime my children had dead fish while they were growing up...I guess this would be a PETA issue.

This is not (entirely) a PETA issue.
This is an issue of domestic violence.
This sort of man will attack helpless animals, children and his partner to exert power and fear.
If your children killed thier fish by pouring in a bottle of cleaner like this, perhaps you should seek help.

Why is this domestic violence? According to the article he doesn't live with the girlfriend.

I find it sad and disturbing that you are more concerned about the dead fish than you are about the girl that was assaulted.
