What is your basic business philosophy? God put us here to help others and give back more than we take.
Give us a sales pitch in 25 words or less: DVF is your local expert for tax preparation, business and medical consulting, estate and tax planning, QuickBooks training and support.
What is your proudest business achievement? I am happy to have a career that allows me the opportunity to be involved in our community.
What led you to Murfreesboro? Being near my family was always a top priority so Murfreesboro was perfect. I was fortunate to find a job that I loved and then I met my husband, Tim Tipps. We moved to Winchester for eight years, however, Tim and I felt Murfreesboro was ultimately where we needed to be. We have so many friends here, and Murfreesboro offers so much for us as a family as well as great educational opportunities for our daughter, Laurel.
What is your educational background? I attended elementary and high school in Cannon County. I graduated from MTSU with a degree in mass communications.
Where are you originally from? I grew up on a dairy farm halfway between Woodbury and Manchester in a community known as Hollow Springs or Midway.
What do you do for fun? Our family plays games — board games, card games, etc. We’re loud and we’re competitive. I also like to read. Tim and I also have a farm near my family’s farm in Cannon County. I’m not sure most would consider it fun but we enjoy it. This year the goal is pumpkins and a corn maze.
Tell us about your family: My husband is Tim Tipps. We’ve been married for 17 years. Our children are Craig, his wife, Danielle and Laurel. Craig and Danielle are in college at MTSU after serving in the Air Force and now in the Air Guard. Laurel is a very active fifth-grader at the Discovery School at Reeves Rogers.
Who was your mentor? My mentor is my mom. She is such a gracious Christian lady who always finds something nice to say about any person or situation.
What is the most important thing going on now at your operation? Tax season, of course. Now through April 15 is the busiest time at DVF. We have excellent staff who can tackle almost any problem and get results.
