A Rutherford County schools teacher and assistant football coach was charged with simple domestic assault last Friday, Murfreesboro Police reported.
Torey Patterson, 32, of Hammock Drive, was charged with assaulting girlfriend Laquisha McFerrin during a fight at her home, Officer Omar Reedy reported.
Schools spokesman James Evans said Patterson is a physical education teacher and assistant football coach at La Vergne High School.
Reedy reported McFerrin accused Patterson of smacking a plate of bacon and eggs out of her hand and yelling at her.
“The victim stated that this placed her in fear,” Reedy reported.
Patterson grabbed her cell phone and when she tried to retrieve it, he pushed her away and left, the officer reported.
“The victim stated that Mr. Patterson has made several threats toward her like ‘I’ll make your life hell,’ (and) If I ain’t happy than nobody will be happy,’” Reedy reported.
She did not have any visible injuries. Reedy found a paper plate and bacon and eggs on the floor.
Reedy took McFerrin to the judicial commissioner’s office to obtain a warrant charging Patterson with assault. When Reedy took her home, Patterson was inside. Reedy charged Patterson and booked him into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. His hearing is pending in General Sessions Court.
