Boyfriend accused of killing girlfriend's fish during fight

TMP Reports

Nine fish died after an enraged boyfriend dumped liquid cleaner into his girlfriend’s fish tank during a fight Sunday at her apartment, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Boyfriend William Michael Tyler, 30, of Estill Springs, Tenn., was charged with domestic assault from the fight Sunday and an earlier domestic assault, both with girlfriend Brittney Megan Crownover listed as the victim, Officer James Thomason reported.

A neighbor notified police about the argument between Tyler and Crownover at her South Rutherford Boulevard apartment. Crownover told police Tyler drank alcohol and they began arguing.

“According to Ms. Crownover, William, also in his moment of rage, poured a bottle of Formula 409 cleaning agent into Ms. Crownover’s fish tank, killing nine of her fish,” Thomason reported. The fish were valued at $200.

She accused him of grabbing her around her throat and holding her down on the floor, the officer reported.

Crownover’s roommate, Jamaka Hedrick, saw Tyler get off of Crownover just before he ran out the apartment door.

Police located Tyler and booked him into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing was set Nov. 20 in General Sessions Court.
