When it comes to Mexican or Southwestern food, everyone in Murfreesboro has his or her favorite eatery.

While this type of restaurant somewhat tends to come and go, this type of food has grown to be a big favorite among local diners.

You might love the salsa at Fiesta Acapulco on Broad Street or the variety at any of the Camino Reals, the service at La Siesta or the specials at Las Palmas.

So quit holding out and share your favorites and why you love them!

Ol' Hammerhaid seems to be stuck on Garcia's on Franklin Road. He loves the Guadalajara Nachos, while Betty Lou suspects that it's the margaritas and the cute hostesses that keep him coming back.

Whatever the reason or the specialty, Mexican restaurants pack in these customers.

The Post would love to share your favorites with our readers in one of our Top 10 lists.

All you have to do is list your favorite restaurant and tell us what you like about it. Simple enough?

Haven't been there yet but I'm curious as to what people think of Limestone Mexican Grill & Seafood over by the new Wally World?!?

By: lduke on 4/20/09
Not telling~ as we can still get in there and eat without waiting 2 hours.

By: lwg on 4/20/09
No contest. It's LaSiesta on Greenland. In addition to well-prepared food at a good price, the staff is the friendliest in town. The outside patio is recently improved and is a great place to enjoy a margarita in the warmth of the sun.

We tried Limestone and were not impressed. The decor was nice, but the food was bland. The beef in the beef enchilada was not even salted, and the cheese in the cheese enchilada was not melted. We should have known better than to stray from LaSiesta!

Camino Real any location.

Cozumel on S. Church St. is the best I've found in the boro. The food is always hot & fresh (not to mention HUGE portions unlike some other places), the service is always great, and it's family run. My husband & I frequent here every Friday night and have been treated like one of the family.

El Torrero on Memorial Blvd is the best by leaps and bounds.

By: ShariHowerton on 4/20/09
I will have to try El Torrero. I was also unimpressed with Limestone. Just okay. Although I did think their authentic tacos (grilled meat, onion, cilantro and sliced avocado in soft corn tortillas) were excellent. I need a new (impressive) restaurant to write about, as I don't like to write about a place unless I can give it a big thumbs up. I am craving a pablano relleno from Camino Real on South Church at the moment.

You need to give Limestone another shot.....have had good food/service the last few times we've been. Los Panchos across the street and in the Walmart shopping area is also excellent.

Try Carmens Taqueria on Northfield and Mexi-Ven Rest on Bradyville before casting votes for La Siesta. Mexi-Ven is the only place I know of in town that serves Papusas Barbacoa, Lengua and Tacos Al Pastor. The menu is entirely in spanish...¡Muy Auténtico! Empanadas and Sopes at Carmens are delicious. La Siesta does have a great porch for drinking huge beers but the food is just ok in comparison.

Cozumel on Church St. is hands down the best mexican resturant in the Boro

By: lovecollies on 4/20/09
Garcia's on Franklin Road is the closest to real, authentic Mexican Food in my opinion. Many others are Mexican-Tennessee style, which is fine, if that is what you like. Garcia's chips and salsa are the freshest I have found. Everything I have tried there is good! :-)

Mia Patria behind Coconut Bay Cafe, next to Kinkos/Fed Ex. Delicious. The family eats every bite.

By: pumpkinhead90 on 4/20/09
Cozumel on South Church St. I have been going religiously for eight months now. They know my name, and treat me like family every time.

By: Geana on 4/20/09
Chilango's behind the Food Lion and across from Kroger's near the Rutherford/Northfield traffic light. I love their Pollo Loco and generous tasty fajitas -- all flavors. Generous portions.

A Mexican-born friend of mine raves for the Camino Real on Broad St. near Shoneys. ONLY that one she says! She's been to their others and says ONLY that one has the best mexican chefs. (Si, Senor"Rita"!)

Cozumel on South Church! Great food, great prices, great happy hour, and best of all Ricardo and his family always make you feel like family!

By: Admiral on 4/20/09
Get loaded before you go and they all taste good.

By: sja66 on 4/20/09
Garcia's is very good. On the appetizer menu there is a cheese dip with chorizo. Very delicious with the torillas that they serve. The main courses are delicious also.

By: thisone on 4/20/09
Camino's all the way. I went with my wife to Garcia's once and waited 20 minutes before the waitress returned to the table with our drinks. We left and went to Camino's. I never should have strayed from the flock.

Cozumel on South Church Street beats any place in town. Tell Ricardo to make you one of his hand made Top-Shelf Rita's and then order Tacos Carne Asada with "green salsa". Incredible! Also, they have the freshest and best plain red salsa I have ever eaten. Read the above posts.... we ain't kiddin folks!

By: BELGIAN613 on 4/21/09
Definitely Garcia's. There are unique. The rest are pretty much all the same.

By: LilAudrey on 4/21/09
Garcia's is much better than the rest when it comes to preparation of the food. There are no big chunks of chicken or beef, everything is seasoned properly. You get both quality and quantity.

By: Trvlace on 4/21/09
We have at best Tex-Mex here, not real homestyle mexican cooking. Camino over by Campus has a big patio, and the place stays packed. Quality is ok. Will have to try Garcia's. I tried Salsarita's and it is ok, but pricey compared to others, and you have to get your own food and drink there. I think if your in a big hurry it might be a bit faster.

Absolutely and without a single doubt... Cozumel on South Church! I've lived in the 'boro for almost five years now. It was... is and probably always will be my favorite restaurant - period! The food tastes awesome; the prices are great for the portion you get. Service is almost always fast and friendly.

By: SMinnich on 4/21/09
Our favorite hands-down is LaSiesta on S. Church St. We eat there every week! The food and service is the best of any restaurant in M'boro. We love the salsa and guacamole!

By: peri_winkle on 4/21/09
The original Camino Real on Broad St. near Shoney's hands down. Much better than the one at Cason Lane. Try anything with shrimp in it. They grill those little suckers. Muy Bueno. The other Caminos could take a lesson.

We keep trying others as new ones open, but we keep going back to Camino on Broad. Garcia's food--all of it--pales in comparison, I'm sorry to say. Worse yet, it costs more. I don't mind paying more for better, but I do mind paying more for not nearly as good.

Camino Real on Broad St. is far less convenient to us, but totally worth the extra few miles. (Just writing this is making me hungry for a shrimp chimi.)

My vote goes to LaSiesta on Greenland. Friendliest staff, best service, great patio, awesome food, great marguaritas ...

By: puppycoconut on 4/21/09
La Siesta ROCKS!!!!!!!

La Siesta all the way!!!

:))))

By: Flo on 4/21/09
Add my vote to Cozumel on South Church Street in the Kroger Shopping Center.
Ricardo....and Maria.....they DO make you feel like family there. I am highly allergic to peppers and they are the ONLY place I can go to and get food prepared as requested. In fact....they know my voice on the phone and what I always order.
Their Especial Cozumel Fahitas. Single order, which is plenty for hubby and myself with some leftovers for the next day!

By: chm77 on 4/21/09
Add another vote for Cozumel on S. Church! I used to be a Camino fan, but the food cannot compare to Cozumel. And I agree with the others that you really seem to get more food for your money, my husband and I often shrare meals and he doesn't do that anywhere!

And what is even more important than the food, the service is incredible. Ricardo and his family know us by name as well, they know what we like to order, and they are so sweet to our kids.

And yes, Ricardo's "special" margaritas are just that!

By: Ponycar on 4/21/09
Limestone is the best in my opinion. The people who own it also own La Terraza on OHB and Nolensville road in Nashville ( In the Kroger shopping center). Used to go there all the time when I lived near there.I was happy and excited to see Limestone open up in the Boro.I love the green habenero sauce on the tables.

By: RockyattheTop on 4/21/09
It's no contest... El Torero on Memorial. They don't wow you with decor... they WOW you with the food.

By: funtxcowboy on 4/22/09
CARMENS TAQUARIA on Northfield near Memorial (near Dollar General) It's a small "hole-in-the-wall" with the best food and service.

CARMENS TAQUARIA will steal any customer away from other mexican restaurants if people knew about it

CARMENS TAQUARIA has a loyal following because their food is so fresh and made to order.

Don't judge this book by it's cover. For real mexican food, with fresh ingredients, and quality preparations, you have to take a chance on CARMENS TAQUARIA.

You will not regret it. I have tried every mexican restaurant in town and quit looking when I took a chance on CARMENS TAQUARIA.

Great breakfast too!!! And can any other mexican restaurant in Murfreesboro make that claim?

By: Spit0414 on 4/22/09
Mi Patria by a landslide. The food is awesome, always hot and fresh. Service is very good and the price/quality ratio is out of this world.

By: RaiderXpress on 4/22/09
I'm gonna go with Hammer on Garcia's. Since a buddy suggested lunch there a couple of months ago, it has quickly become a favorite for lunch a dinner. Very nice quality and presentation of food and the portions sizes seem to be a bit more than the boro' staples, Camino and La Siesta. Don't get me wrong, I am still picking that patio on Greenland Dr as my favorite place fo a margarita in the springtime, but when it comes to food, Garcia's is the place. A 2nd place vote for me is Mi Patria behind CoCo Bay.
